Meet United States Navy Veteran
June 2020 WIBO Graduate Melisa Jamison
I had the honor of serving in the United States Navy during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF) as a Hospital Corpsman.
I first learned of WIBO when I saw signs posted in my community, which I found later was placed there by a fellow classmate. I am a Virtual Assistant. I took my years of military service, technological inclination, my ability “to figure it out” and common-sense practices to build my skills. Although I knew my practices and techniques worked and helped many businesses grow, I wasn’t sure how to describe what I was doing, or how to position my services to help more businesses. I needed to learn how to successfully run a business from a real-world perspective.
Attending WIBO was the best business decision I could have made. From the first day, I felt I was in the right place. As we transitioned from in-person class to virtual, the engagement with the speakers, instructors, and classmates did not miss a beat. In a world where criticism isn’t always constructive, I was eager to hear and read the feedback about my weekly homework assignments. The information provided at each encounter was priceless knowledge which many business owners only learn by trial and error. I felt like I got the cheat sheet.
In October 2020, M Jay Business Growth Solutions LLC was officially launched. My business has taken off like a rocket. Although my niche market is women creatives in the beauty industry, my client list includes e-commerce business owners, personal chefs, and artists. My clients love my forward-thinking skills because it allows them to focus and know that the behind-the-scenes are being taken care of. WIBO gave me the confidence and credentials needed to pursue my goals, pitch my business, and create a plan for my business that is working.
I’m forever grateful for this opportunity.
