Dr. Elizabeth Taveras Rivera is a teacher educator, curriculum developer, New York State certified bilingual special education teacher, and education policy researcher. She has worked as a bilingual education consultant and teacher educator at Fordham, Columbia, and Long Island Universities, and at City and Barnard Colleges.
Her work with undergraduate and graduate students has focused on helping teachers develop culturally relevant practices. Through her guidance, student teachers create diverse curricula to help students of color, particularly Puerto Rican and Latinx students, identify with and learn about their community’s contributions within the US. Her expertise also includes anti-bullying training.
