Over the years, WIBO empowered more than 16,000 people from under-resourced communities to build businesses that improved their lives and strengthened the fabric of their families and communities.
Volunteers have always been WIBO’s secret sauce, but financial contributions are the other essential ingredient, paying for the few necessary expenses that arise, and allowing WIBO to thrive.

WIBO is marking its 60th anniversary year in 2026 by reflecting on its journey thus far, celebrating its accomplishments, and setting the stage for expanding its impact in the years ahead.
The WIBO 60th Anniversary Campaign will include many special events and publications that reunite and recognize the WIBO family – six decades of alumni, volunteers, donors, partners, board, and staff – and invite new folks to join in the mission!

The Stephen Jackson Legacy Fund
The Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO) has, since its founding almost 60 years ago as the first peer-based entrepreneurial training program, graduated more than 16,000 aspiring business people.
Because of Stephen Jackson, WIBO is still thriving.
In 2022, suddenly and tragically, the world lost Stephen, WIBO’s beloved and fiercely committed Executive Director.
The WIBO Stephen Jackson Legacy Fund will continue to build on Stephen’s lifetime of fighting the good fight.
