Why WIBO Works: The Power Behind 60+ Years of Entrepreneurial Success

Dr. Stacie N.C. Grant- Chair, WIBO Board of Directors

As the Board Chair of WIBO, I have the privilege of witnessing something remarkable: the transformation that occurs when individuals realize they can build the life they envision through entrepreneurship, education, and community support. For more than 50 years, WIBO has guided thousands of entrepreneurs on this journey, helping them strengthen their businesses, create jobs, and uplift their neighborhoods.

WIBO’s success is not by chance; it is intentional, proven, and firmly rooted in the belief that economic power should be accessible in every community. Here are six reasons why WIBO works:

  1. A Proven, Practice-Based Curriculum

Our 16-week workshop is designed to turn learning into action. Participants apply what they learn directly to their businesses, step by step, building real skills and confidence along the way. WIBO demystifies entrepreneurship, making it accessible to everyone.

  1. Community-Led, Peer-Supported Learning

WIBO is not just a program; it is a family. When entrepreneurs come together weekly, they open up, challenge one another, and create connections that last for years. This peer support system is one of our greatest strengths, fostering accountability and authentic growth.

  1. Facilitators Who Lead with Experience and Heart

Our facilitators are practitioners: business owners, executives, and subject-matter experts who bring real-world entrepreneurial experience to the table. They don’t just lecture; they guide, mentor, and motivate participants, demonstrating what is possible because they have walked the path themselves.

  1. A Mission That Centers on Underresourced Communities

WIBO is built on a foundation of economic justice. We serve entrepreneurs who are often overlooked and underestimated, including founders of color, women entrepreneurs, immigrants, returning citizens, and small-business owners from underserved neighborhoods. Supporting them strengthens entire communities.

  1. Measurable Impact That Translates into Real Change

Our graduates consistently report increases in revenue, improved operational clarity, stronger business plans, and heightened confidence as leaders. Many go on to employ others, creating a ripple effect of economic mobility in their communities.

  1. A Legacy of Generational Wealth Building

Ultimately, WIBO is about more than just business. It is about legacy. We equip individuals with the necessary tools for long-term prosperity.

WIBO works because we believe in people. We invest in their dreams and create supportive communities.
