We were lucky to catch up with Ramon Gil recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ramon, appreciate you joining us today. If you’re open to it, can you talk to us about the best (or worst) investment you’ve made. What’s the backstory and the relevant context behind why you made the investment
A few years ago, I launched my own marketing design company called Fresh Concentrate. We specialized in reaching multicultural audiences. Prior to this I had worked as a senior art director at an ad agency and as a creative director at a non-profit. The best investment I ever made was in my own education as an entrepreneur. While I had a degree in graphic arts, starting and running a business was a mystery. Luckily I found the Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO). They offered a sixteen week course in everything from marketing, financing, taxes, HR, and everything you need to start. It was hands on and experiential and I credit it with almost a decade of successful operation. So much so that I was a volunteer instructor for many years.
